I got to wondering about the Teamster endorsement of Gephardt

By Pat Barss on Monday, December 8, 2003.

For as long as I have known and been hanging around with this group of Teamsters I have always heard " . . . we never endorse a candidate in a Primary election . . ." Yet this year they came out early and strong in support if Gephardt - I know that the other candidates have talked to the local membership here in New Hampshire and I am sure to Mr. Hoffa himself.

At any rate, I asked my Teamster friends this question: What if Gephardt does not win the Democratic nomination? Granted it was at a table at Billy's Sports Bar here in Manchester but the consensus from a small group was that they will ultimately back whichever Democratic candidate that wins as they do not want George Bush to stay in the White House.
