ArchivesLet it snow!By Beth Todgham on Tuesday, December 2, 2003.It snowed in Southern New Hampshire last night. Nothing major, just a dusting of white that serves to alert us of what's to come in these weeks leading up to the Primary and beyond. It's tough to do the "in your face" campaigning that New Hampshire's famous for when the wind chill factor kicks in and the ice and snow make getting from town-to-town a challenge. To me, this is when the candidates really start to show their stamina -- when rolling up your shirtsleeves changes into bundling up and shaking hands with your gloves on. Lessons of an ImpeachmentBy Laura Knoy on Tuesday, December 2, 2003.It was called New Hampshire?s O.J. trial as three years ago; the state glued its eyes and ears to the impeachment and trial of Justice David Brock. Many hoped it to be a crescendo in the battle between the state legislators and the judiciary. Justice Brock was acquitted back in 2000. Now in 2003 he's retiring and we?re asking what if anything have we learned from it. Laura's guest are Albert "Buzz" Scherr, Professor of Law at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Mary Brown, Former State Senator and author of "The Impeachment Trial of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice", Trish Anderton, NHPR Reporter, Representative Henry Mock, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and Bev Hollingworth, Former Senate President and Presiding Officer during the impeachment. One Man's Pork is Another's Man's DinnerBy Judith Smelser on Tuesday, December 2, 2003.Each year, lawmakers from all over the country vie for federal dollars to fund projects back home. Critics call it "pork-barrel spending," but it's as much a part of Congressional politics as lobbyists and fillibusters. New Hampshire's lawmakers have been fighting for their share of the pie too. New Hampshire Public Radio's Washington Correspondent Judith Smelser asked the states Congressional delegates which projects they were most proud of. |
