Today in Manchester New Hampshire

By Pat Barss on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

This morning I found myself weaving between a CNN news bus, an NBC truck and a FOX news truck to get to work. From the line of cameras set up on Elm Street in front of the Merrimack I was guessing that they were getting reactions from people on the street to the debates held at UNH last night or that John Edwards had something important going on! He had made very good use of the mounds of snow - I could not count the number of signs he had up on every corner!

The importance of endorsements

By Pat Barss on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

Yesterday a submitted an entry about Gore's endorsement of Dean and that I was dissapointed more in Gore than more impressed with Howard Dean - I did not really make myself clear and feel the need to do that now - I am dissapointed in Gore as a human being. Is it because it is because of "politics" that he does not see the need to be held to the same standards as you or I in how to treat people - The man was willing to put Joe Lieberman in a spot that put him ". . . . one heartbeat away from the presidency" and now tells us Howard Dean is the guy he is supporting WITHOUT even a courtesy call to Joe Lieberman. That is what I am most dissapointed in.

Not Working

By Ted Jastrzembski on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

The DEBATES. Talk about a format that's not working. The coffee-machine scuttle coming out of the WMUR debate is mostly the frustration we're feeling about how little we really learned about how well any of the 85 candidates will serve us as President. There wasn't enough time for anybody to say much more than their soundbite mantras. Koppel tried to be provocative and get them out of their scripted, rehearsed responses, but I don't think much happened to change anything. These debates among so many candidates do very little to help voters make up their minds. I've got to believe its frustrating for the candidates too.

Is Gephardt losing the support of New Hampshire teamsters?

By Pat Barss on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

I know at least one Teamster who is very dissapointed in Gephardt's lack of presense in New Hampshire over the past few months. After the general membership came out here in "Live Free or Die NH" in support of Gephardt, going door to door, putting up signs, making call after call there seems to be some hurt feelings that he (Gephardt) gave up on New Hampshire some time ago and focused his energies on Iowa.

Timing appears to be everything

By Pat Barss on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

Gore's endorsment of Howard Dean yesterday really stole the thunder at the Debate at UNH last night. I was a very big Gore supporter in the last election and find myself more dissapointed in Gore as opposed to more interested in Dean. In watching the debate last night with a few of my friends however I am learning how important endorsements are. Two of my friends, one who owns her own business and
