Ancient Egyptian Music

Douglas Irvine is a musician, composer, and instrument builder. He specializes in ancient instruments and music of Mesopotamia and Egypt. His CD,"Ambient Egypt," combines the sounds of the ancient instruments with modern mixing techniques. The music is being used as part of the traveling exhibit, "The Quest for Immortality", which is currently at the Museum of Science in Boston.

The Rural Life

Portsmouth Deaf Program Could be Eliminated

The Portsmouth School Board meets Tuesday night to consider phasing out the district's program for deaf and hard of hearing students. At the Little Harbour Elementary School, deaf students are taught side by side with hearing students. But they also have access to sign language interpreters and language specialists. NHPR's Raquel Maria Dillon reports.

Line 'Em Up

Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman is the latest Democrat to announce he is running for president.

He joins what is becoming a large field of candidates seeking the Democratic nomination.

With about one year until the New Hampshire primary, presidential candidates are already building organizations they hope will mean success.
