Norm Who?

Lawyer and Democrat Katrina Swett is expected to announce soon that she’ll challenge Republican Representative Charlie Bass for the 2nd District U.S. House seat. Many Democratic Party members both at the state and national level are crossing their fingers, hoping Swett will run. But what about the Democrat who’s already announced his candidacy? Who, you ask, is that? It’s Norman Jackman from Lincoln, a man many in the party find hard to support. NHPR’s Dan Gorenstein has more.

NH React to President Bush's "Clear Skies" Idea

President George W. Bush has introduced a plan he calls "the most significant step America has ever taken" to cut power plant emissions. Bush says power plant emissions contribute to urban smog, acid ran, and numerous health problems for Americans. Many in New Hampshire agree with that assessment. But when it comes to what President Bush has proposed to do in response, the reaction has been polite, and overwhelmingly negative. NHPR's Doug MacPherson reports.
