Anatomy of a Rescue

By NHPR Staff on Wednesday, September 5, 2001.

Early this week, New Hampshire woke up to the news that a well-known Boston broadcaster, Ted O?Brien, was lost. He had gone hiking Sunday morning in the White Mountains and hadn?t returned. State fish and game officials aided by local volunteers found O?Brien Tuesday morning, a little worse for wear?..but ok.
Each year, the Department of Fish and Game rescues dozens of people who get lost in the state?s forest. Today NHPR brings you a profile of the men and women who do the searching. This piece was produced by WBUR?s Jason Beaubien.
