Talking About Quality: The Business of Teaching

When teachers are asked, do you think a diploma means a person has mastered basic skills, almost all of them say Yes. But when employers and college professors are asked, 40 percent of them say No.
Today, we hear how teachers react to dissatisfaction among employers. Skip Watkins, the Science Coordinator at Merrimack's Mastricola Middle School says if members of the business community are unhappy, they should get involved.

"Trash Police" Search Bags at Derry Dump

As the population of southern New Hampshire grows, many towns are struggling to deal with larger amounts of residential trash. Officials in Derry have taken an aggressive approach to the problem: they're searching garbage bags at the town transfer station to make sure people aren't throwing away recyclables.

A Regional Stategy for Climate Change

The annual conference of the New England governors and the eastern Canadian premiers continues today in Westbrook, Connecticut.

Yesterday, attendees signed a plan to combat climate change.

NHPR's Doug Macpherson spoke to one of the signatories, New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen, who described the goals of the agreement.
