Sox Talk!

Ernest Hebert's new novel, The Old American

Ernest Hebert is a writer and professor of English at Dartmouth College. He’s written eight novels; his most recent is “The Old American.” The novel was inspired by a historical marker in Hebert’s hometown of Keene; it tells the story of Caucus-Meteor, the leader of a band of Native Americans in the early 1700s, and Nathan Blake, the British immigrant taken captive by the band. “The Old American” is published by the University Press of New England.

Train derails in VT.

A train derailment in Winchester VT caused an engine to plunge into the CT River and dump thousands of gallons of diesel fuel into the water. Some Wildlife has been effected...but the clean-up effort began quickly.

Voices of the Gun Show

The NHSO Conductor Search Continues

The search for the next Music Director of the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra continued in March, as guest conductor Janna-Hymes-Bianchi led the NHSO in concert. Hymes-Bianchi is the first woman to conduct the orchestra, and she's one of the candidates to succeed James Bolle as its Music Director. Nathan Irwin has been following the search the process, and sent the second in a series of audio postcards from the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
