Broadcasting McVeigh's Execution

Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh will be put to death on May 16th. Two internet companies have gone to court for the right to web-cast his execution. We'll ask if the general public has a right to watch, and what harm or good might come from it. Laura's guests are Jane Kirtley, an attorney and professor of journalism at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis(www.umn.edu), and Larry Vogelman, board member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (www.criminaljustice.org)in private practice in Exeter.

Making Electronic Music for the Digital Age

Sammy James of Nashua, NH, is a musician and composer who specializes in synthesized, instrumental music. And, though much of his music has a strong ?techno? feel, he doesn?t think of it as dance music; it?s intended for private listening at home. He?s released two CDs, the latest of which is called ?Scarabs of Lust.? He talked about the process of translating melodies and musical ideas into songs, and about how he prefers synthesized music over acoustic; the technology at his disposal increases his ability to create the musical effects he?s looking for.

Rose Stevens, Puzzle Maker

Rose Stevens is owner of Piece Time Puzzles, on Route 4 in Northwood. She sells jigsaw puzzles for all ages -- from kids' puzzles to challenging ones with thousands of pieces. She also hand-cuts one-of-a-kind puzzles. Her store is in a red barn on Route 4, across from the entrance to Northwood Meadows State Park. The store's phone number is 942-5291.
