Water Officials Don't Recommend Refilling Wells

As New England's drought continues, private water wells throughout the region are increasingly going dry. Some homeowners are replenishing their wells with water trucked in from elsewhere. But Water Officials in Maine say that can be a risky business. Maine Public Radio's Naomi Schalit reports.

Judge: State Must End Waitlist

The state must take some 45 people with brain injuries and other disabilities off a waiting list, and provide them help to live at home. That was the decision handed down thursday by a federal judge in a class-action lawsuit against the state. NHPR?s Trish Anderton reports.

American History Through Everyday Objects

Laurel Thatcher Ulrich was a professor in the UNH history department for many years and she won the Pulitzer Prize in 1991 for her book "A Midwife's Tale." She still lives in Durham. In her new book, "The Age of Homespun," Ulrich chronicles the history of early America through everyday objects- spinning wheels, Indian baskets, a linen tablecloth. She demonstrates how everyday objects reveal larger econimic and social structures.

Stimulating the Economy

Congress is at a stalemate over how best to boost an ailing economy. The debate is clearly divided along party lines.
