Who Pays the Bills When Reservists are Activated?By Lisa Peakes on Monday, November 12, 2001.All told, some 200 New Hampshire national guard and reservists have been called into active duty since September 11th. Members of the reserve get paid for their service, and receive benefits like education and health coverage. For most reservists, that pay supplements a career that has already been established. But what happens to the workplace and home life when reservists are called up? Who makes up differences in pay? Who pays the mortgage? NHPR's Lisa Peakes asked those questions of retired major Ernest Loomis.
