State Proposes New River Controls

Towns and businesses that have pumped water from NH's rivers for decades may face new rules. State officials worry that in dry periods, demands on certain rivers could be too high. The cost of the new rules could reach $50 million state-wide.

States Ponder Anti-Trust Action on Milk

In the past ten years, Suiza Foods has won control of 75% of the milk processing in New England. The cost to some states for milk has gone up while prices paid by Suiza to dairy farmers have gone down. Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut are investigating the company for anti-trust violations. New Hampshire has declined to participate in the investigation.
